Best Things To Do In High Wycombe With Kids (2026 Guide)

High Wycombe might not always make the top of the "days out" lists, but if you live here — or you're visiting — you'll know there's genuinely loads to keep the kids entertained.

The real challenge isn't finding things to do; it's figuring out what's right for your children.

A toddler who needs soft play and a snack is a very different proposition to an eight-year-old who wants to go-kart or climb walls, and a teenager is a different matter altogether.

That's why we've put together this guide by attraction, with age suggestions for each one, so you can pick what actually works for your family right now — and bookmark the rest for when they're a bit older.

Whether you're planning a birthday treat, filling the school holidays, or just need to get out of the house on a rainy Tuesday, here's our roundup of the best things to do in High Wycombe with kids.

Best Family Days Out in High Wycombe

1. Odds Farm Park

📍 Wooburn Common Road, Wooburn Common, HP10 0LX 🌐 oddsfarm.co.uk 👶 Best for: Ages 1–10

odds farm park

Odds Farm is a firm favourite for families with younger children, and it's not hard to see why. Just a short drive from the town centre, this working farm offers animal encounters, outdoor adventure play, and a giant indoor soft play barn — so it works whatever the weather.

Kids can meet pigs, sheep, rabbits and more, ride the tractor trailer, and burn off enormous amounts of energy. It's a full day out, and there's a decent café to keep the grown-ups going too. Check ahead for seasonal events — their Christmas and Easter activities are particularly popular and book up fast.

2. Playtrain

📍 Lancaster Road, Cressex Business Park, HP12 3PY 🌐 playtrain.biz 👶 Best for: Ages 0–8

playtrain high wycombe

Playtrain is one of High Wycombe's favourite spots for parents of young children.

It's a soft play and role play village rolled into one — think mini high street, sensory room, party spaces and a proper soft play frame, all under one roof. The role play element (where kids can dress up and play out scenarios like working in a shop or a café) keeps things fresh and imaginative rather than just burning energy. It's particularly good for the under-fives, though children up to eight will enjoy it.

Booking ahead online is recommended, especially at weekends and in the school holidays.

3. Cupcake Kangaroo

📍 Unit 11 The Courtyard, Riverside West, Wooburn Green, HP10 0DG 🌐 cupcakekangaroo.co.uk 👶 Best for: Ages 0–7

cupcake kangaroo

A newer addition to the High Wycombe area, Cupcake Kangaroo is a soft play and café which is particularly popular with the baby and toddler crowd.

It's a smaller, more relaxed environment than some of the bigger play centres — which is exactly what you want when you've got a one-year-old. The soft play area is beautiful, clean, and offers a mix of role play and traditional soft play fun.

The café downstairs is fantastic too with delicious drinks and treats on offer, plus a great little role play cafe area for the kids to enjoy while you sit down. A lovely spot for a midweek play date.

4. Rush Trampoline Park

📍 Lexmark House, Cressex Business Park, HP12 3TA 🌐 rushuk.com 👶 Best for: Ages 4 and up (toddler sessions for ages 1-4 available)

rush trampoline park

Rush is a proper adrenaline venue — wall-to-wall trampolines, foam pits, dodgeball courts and freestyle zones.

For the 7–14 age group especially, it's an absolute winner: kids come out genuinely exhausted and very happy.

There are dedicated toddler sessions for younger children, which are a much calmer affair. Adults can join in too, which either sounds fun or terrifying depending on how you feel about your knees and pelvic floor... They've also got Ruby & Reds softplay for the little ones.

For a closer look at the options for younger children, compare our favourite soft play venues in High Wycombe, including Ruby & Red’s at Rush.

Booking online in advance is essential, particularly at weekends.

5. Clip 'n Climb

📍 Unit R1, Eden Shopping Centre, Denmark Street, HP11 2DB 🌐 highwycombe.clipnclimb.co.uk 👶 Best for: Ages 4 and up (toddler sessions available for 2-4 year olds)

clip n climb high wycombe

Located up in the Eden Centre, Clip 'n Climb is one of those places where kids surprise themselves with what they can do.

There are dozens of themed climbing walls at varying difficulty levels, so it works for complete beginners and more confident climbers alike -- even adults!

The auto-belay system means children can climb independently without a parent strapping in alongside them, which makes the whole experience much more freeing.

Great for a birthday party or a weekend treat.

6. Hollywood Bowl

📍 Eden Centre, 9 Denmark Street, HP11 2DB 🌐 hollywoodbowl.co.uk/high-wycombe 👶 Best for: All ages

Bowling is one of those rare activities that genuinely works for every age — toddlers love the bumpers and the fact that the ball eventually knocks something over, and older kids get competitive.

Hollywood Bowl at the Eden Centre is the full package: American diner vibes, arcade games, and a reliable crowd-pleaser of a main activity. It's a particularly good option in bad weather or when you need something that's easy to organise with mixed-age groups.

Look out for off-peak pricing during the week if you're flexible on timing.

7. Wycombe Museum

📍 Priory Avenue, HP13 6PX 🌐 wycombemuseum.org.uk 👶 Best for: Ages 4 and up ✅ Free entry

wycombe museum

Wycombe Museum doesn't get nearly enough credit. Set in a gorgeous historic building with lovely grounds, it tells the story of High Wycombe — most famously its chair-making heritage — in a way that's genuinely engaging for families.

There are hands-on exhibits, a children's activity trail, and regular family-friendly events and workshops throughout the year.

Best of all, it's free. It's a great option for a low-key morning out, and it combines nicely with a walk in the grounds and a sweet treat in the café. Check the website for current exhibitions and holiday activities before you go.

8. Hughenden (National Trust)

📍 Valley Road, HP14 4LA 🌐 nationaltrust.org.uk/hughenden 👶 Best for: Ages 3 and up

hughenden manor

Hughenden is a brilliant day out for families who want a bit more than just a play area.

The Victorian mansion was home to Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, and the manor house itself is fascinating — but honestly, a lot of families come here for the grounds and the kids' activities.

There are woodland walks, an adventure play area, a second world war history trail, and regular school holiday events.

National Trust members get in free; non-members pay for entry to the house but the parkland has free access. Pack a picnic and make a proper afternoon of it.

9. Clara's Corner

📍 The Walled Garden, Chorley Road, HP14 3AP 🌐 clarascorner.co 👶 Best for: Ages 0–7

clara's corner

Tucked into the charming surroundings of West Wycombe village, Clara's Corner is a small, beautifully designed soft play and café that works best for babies and toddlers.

It has a really lovely atmosphere — calm, clean, and clearly put together by someone who understands what parents of very young children actually need.

The village setting makes it extra special, and you can combine a visit with a walk around West Wycombe itself. A real gem for the little ones.

10. Wycombe Swan Theatre

📍 St Mary Street, HP11 2XE 🌐 wycombeswan.co.uk 👶 Best for: Ages 3 and up (varies by production)

wycombe swan theatre

Taking kids to the theatre for the first time is one of those brilliant parenting moments — the lights going down, the music starting, watching their face light up.

Wycombe Swan is a proper theatre with a varied programme that regularly includes family shows, pantomimes, children's theatre, and touring productions suited to younger audiences. The panto alone is worth putting in the diary every Christmas.

Check the website for the current season and age guidance on each production — there's usually something suitable for most ages across the year.

11. TeamSport Indoor Karting

📍 Eden Shopping Centre (above Primark), HP11 2DB 🌐 team-sport.co.uk/go-kart-tracks/high-wycombe 👶 Best for: Ages 8 and up

Indoor karting in the Eden Centre — yes, really. TeamSport operates a multi-level electric kart track right in the town centre, which is brilliant news for thrill-seeking older kids and teens.

There are age and height minimums (typically eight years old and around 120cm), so check the website before booking. It's a fantastic option for a birthday party for older children, and the electric karts are nippy enough to feel genuinely exciting without being scary. Book ahead as sessions fill up quickly.

12. The Rye

📍 London Road/Bassetsbury Road 👶 Best for: All ages ✅ Free

the rye high wycombe

The Rye is probably High Wycombe's most beloved public park — a wide, open green space along the River Wye that's been a local favourite for generations.

There's plenty of space to run around, ducks to feed, two playgrounda for different age groups, and the best ice cream van in town!

It's the kind of place you can go with absolutely no plans and have a perfectly good time. Pack a ball, bring a picnic, and let the kids go. The Lido (see below) is also located here, so you can combine the two on a warm day.

13. Hughenden Park

📍 Coates Lane, HP14 4LA 👶 Best for: All ages ✅ Free

hughenden park

Separate from the manor house itself, Hughenden Park is the free-to-access parkland surrounding the Hughenden estate.

It's a lovely spot for a walk at any time of year — rolling grounds, woodland paths, and big open skies. There's an adventure play area within the grounds that children love.

You don't need to pay the National Trust entry fee to walk through the park, making it a brilliant free day out. Wellies recommended in autumn and winter.

14. Carnival Golf & Games

📍 Unit D2, First Floor, 1 Newlands Meadow, Eden Centre, HP11 2BZ 🌐 carnivalgolfandgames.co.uk 👶 Best for: Ages 4 and up

A colourful, fun entertainment venue in the Eden Centre, Carnival Golf & Games combines two 12-hole crazy golf courses with a floor of carnival arcade games. It's got a real sense of fun about it — proper mini golf with imaginative holes, not just a strip of AstroTurf. The arcade section keeps things going after the golf is done.

It's a great option for a rainy afternoon or a birthday outing for mixed ages.

Kids who are old enough to hold a putter and follow a few simple rules will get the most out of it.

15. Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre

📍 81–83 High Street, Great Missenden, HP16 0AL 🌐 roalddahlmuseum.org 👶 Best for: Ages 4–13

roald dahl museum

Technically this one is in Great Missenden rather than High Wycombe, but it's only a short drive away and absolutely worth including.

This is one of the best children's museums in the region — imaginative, beautifully designed, and genuinely informative about the life and work of the man who gave us Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, and so many more.

Kids can explore Roald Dahl's actual writing hut, get hands-on with story-creation activities, and lose themselves in the magic of his world. A brilliant day out, especially for book-loving children.

16. Escape Rooms

📍 11 High Street, HP11 2AZ (within The Works) 🌐 highwycombeescaperooms.co.uk 👶 Best for: Ages 10 and up

Escape rooms are brilliant for older kids and teens — the combination of puzzles, teamwork, and time pressure is genuinely engaging and doesn't feel like the kind of thing adults suggest when they're trying to be fun.

High Wycombe Escape Rooms is located in the town centre and offers multiple themed rooms at different difficulty levels. It's a great birthday activity for the 10–16 age group, and works equally well as a family challenge.

17. Wycombe Rye Lido

📍 The Rye, High Wycombe 🌐 fusion-lifestyle.com/centres/wycombe-rye-lido 👶 Best for: All ages

wycombe rye lido

The Lido is one of High Wycombe's most treasured local assets — an outdoor swimming pool set in The Rye park, open all year round thanks to the heated pool.

There's nothing quite like it on a sunny summer's day: open-air swimming, plenty of space for families (including a paddling pool for little ones), and that lovely vintage lido atmosphere. It's suitable for all ages, though young children will need supervision in the water.

It gets busy on hot days so check opening times and consider arriving early. A classic High Wycombe summer experience.

18. Wycombe Leisure Centre

📍 Handy Cross, HP11 1UP 🌐 placesleisure.org/centres/wycombe-leisure-centre 👶 Best for: All ages

wycombe leisure centre

When you need a reliable, affordable option that will keep kids happy whatever the weather, Wycombe Leisure Centre delivers.

The centre has a swimming pool with dedicated sessions for families and lessons for children, as well as soft play for both younger kids and older ones, sports courts, and a gym for older teens.

It's a solid go-to for the school holidays and works particularly well for swimming as a half-term activity. Check the timetable on the website as family swim sessions and soft play sessions book up.

A Few Tips for Planning Your Day Out

For organised childcare rather than a family outing, our archived guides cover Easter holiday camps for 2026 and February half-term clubs for 2026. Check directly with providers for their next dates and prices.

High Wycombe is well set up for family days out, with a good mix of free and paid options, indoor and outdoor activities. A few things worth bearing in mind:

Many of the paid venues in the Eden Centre — Clip 'n Climb, TeamSport, Hollywood Bowl, Carnival Golf — are all within a few minutes' walk of each other, so you can combine activities easily in one town centre trip. The car parks nearby are convenient and well-signed.

If you’re staying in town for lunch, our guide to local restaurants includes Eden Centre options alongside places elsewhere in Wycombe.

If the weather's on your side, The Rye, Hughenden Park, and the area around Hughenden Manor are all gorgeous and free. Pack a picnic and you've got a full morning or afternoon sorted for next to nothing.

And if you're looking for something a little different, the short drive to Great Missenden for the Roald Dahl Museum is absolutely worth it — especially for children who love his books.
