Good morning, Wycombe!
My week’s been swallowed by the dawning horror that part of my underfloor heating has packed up (#firstworldproblems) and that High Wycombe’s heating engineers are apparently booked solid until November. So you’ll know who to blame if I start losing digits 🥶
Thankfully, Wycombe’s warming up even if my house isn’t…
🧁 Free cupcakes in Eden this Saturday!

💻 Neo Agency | The 10-Second Test 📲
Right now, someone in Wycombe is likely searching for a business just like yours on their phone.
With the majority of UK web traffic coming from mobile, why do so many websites look great on desktop but fall apart on a smaller screen? Tiny text, awkward menus and buttons that are difficult to tap could be costing you your next customer.
Grab your phone and open your own website. In ten seconds, can a visitor:
✅ Tell what you do?
✅ See that you cover their area?
✅ Find an easy way to call, enquire or book?
✅ Read your content without zooming in?
If you hesitated on any of those, that’s a job for Neo.

Neo are High Wycombe’s own web agency, who’ve worked with over 200 clients. They build your site and stay on to look after it. Plans start from £65 per month and include unlimited repairs and maintenance.
Neo rebuilt Drain Station’s website:
“The website is faster, clearer and far easier to use, helping people find the right service quickly and get in touch with us with less friction… It’s given us a much stronger digital presence and is already supporting more enquiries.”

Council Catch-Up
💷 Last chance to have your say on the council budget: Your Bucks, Your Say survey closes this Sunday, 18th October. Council leader Steven Broadbent has said that government funding changes will cost Bucks around £44 million.
🏛️ West Bucks planning committee, Wednesday 21st October: three Wycombe-area applications are on the agenda:
Shrublands Day Hospital, Queens Road: five more flats, taking the former hospital to 13 with six parking spaces. Called in by Cllrs Clarke and Hussain over parking and overdevelopment; officers recommend approval.
69 Marlow Road: a six-bed house built three metres further back than permitted, already under an enforcement notice. The latest fix is a climbing plant to screen the side wall, but officers say it’s still an “unneighbourly and overbearing” structure for the house next door and recommend refusal.
High Hedges, Cryers Hill Road: a four-bed house in a Green Belt garden, refused twice before. Officers now class it as "grey belt" and are minded to approve; Great Kingshill Residents Association objects over the driveway by the school entrance.
🏢 Up to 30 flats proposed in Cressex offices: Twyford Place, an office building on Lincoln Road, could become flats under two alternative schemes: 23 flats, mostly two-beds, or 30 smaller flats. Both would have 50 parking spaces. Pending decision.
🚑 Plans for new building at ambulance station: South Central Ambulance Service has applied to replace two garages at its West End Street station with a “Make Ready” building, where crews clean and restock ambulances between call-outs. The 1955 station is in “a poor state of condition and in desperate need of investment”, and plans for a new one were dropped in 2021/22 because of the cost.
