Good morning, Wycombe!
Donโt mind me; Iโve just spent the better part of an hour headfirst in the washing machine in an attempt to rid of it of the seemingly hundreds of unidentifiable โseedsโ my 6-year old filled her pockets with at forest school. Slightly nervous theyโll start sprouting come next spring.
Thereโs plenty to distract from domestic bliss this week:
๐ Tinie Tempah is headed to Wycombe

Phil Sole and the team at CG Finance help local families put numbers on all of it. Care paid for from savings, investments, pensions or a mix, they'll build a clear financial plan around the costs, so you can see what's affordable and what the years ahead might look like.

Council Catch-Up
๐ย Local Transport Plan 5 adopted โ Full Council adopted LTP5 on 16th September, setting Bucks' long-term transport priorities. The Wycombe bit: contactless tap-on, tap-off bus fares across different operators will be trialled in the High Wycombe SMARTzone first, no date yet. The evidence behind it won't surprise anyone โ the Wycombe, A404 and Marlow area is named as one of the worst spots in the county for traffic delays, and by 2045 the A404 up to Hazlemere is forecast to be approaching or over capacity at peak times.
๐จย High Wycombe Community Board updates โ draft minutes from this month's Community Board are out. Two projects are moving: a "listening bench" to encourage people to sit and talk at BNU's Wycombe campus, and Wycombe Journeys, six public-art panels for the bus station.
๐๏ธ In the Planning inbox:
Bright Young Things tuition centre on Castle Street could become a shop โ the application would turn 41โ43 Castle Street into retail. Awaiting a decision.
Protective grille approved for the Guildhall's stained glass โ Listed building consent was granted on 21st September to repair the bowing window on the west elevation and fit a black wire guard outside it. Councillors asked for it over vandalism fears.
Second go at a bigger HMO on Roberts Road โ number 89, already a six-bed HMO, wants to be an 8-person one. The first attempt was refused in March and lost at appeal in June over the poor state of the garden outbuilding meant to serve as a common room. The new plans replace it with a garden room. Pending.
Shutter on the High Street โ a retrospective bid to keep the shutter already installed at One Stop Phone and Vape, in the conservation area. The applicant's own heritage statement admits it has "a localised adverse visual effect" when down but argues the impact is limited. Pending.

๐ย Chiltern Railways is now publicly owned โ The operator that runs our line into Marylebone came under Great British Railways on Sunday, 30 years after it was privatised. The government says 25 extra services a day start in December, including half-hourly weekday trains between London and Birmingham, and from now on if your train's cancelled you can travel with another operator two hours either side at no extra cost.
